Passion,
means to endure suffering.

Compassion,
means to endure suffering together.

To endure suffering by oneself, for oneself, is to be a victim and narcissist. The glory of which is a fantasy.

To endure suffering by others, only for others, is to be a martyr and altruist. The glory of which is a labor.

Both we call love,
but one attracts
and one unites,
one intoxicates
and one heals,
one pursues
and one yields,
one persistent
and one patient,
and one separates
and one bonds.

One without the other is to attempt life without both oil and water.

And self-compassion?
An irony as thick as life?
A love as true as blood?
