Rachid Bouhamidi is an artist based in Los Angeles who produces paintings and architectural installations that recall certain notions of traditional design and painterly figuration from his native Moroccan and French background. This selection of paintings explores spatial/ pictorial relationships between figure and pattern that defines an idea of proximity and intimacy in this moment of self-isolation and "social distancing". The linear element in these paintings serve to alternately delineate and disorient a fixed position between the subject depicted and the viewer.
